One amusing thing is that Phoenix actually insinuates that Klavier may be faking his accent at one point. My belief is that though he's German, he speaks perfect English but exaggerates his foreignness as part of his rock 'n' roll persona until it becomes a habit. None of the other "German" characters in the English localization ever use a German phrase, but he does it all the time.
I might ask you sometime, if you don't mind! It's only a couple words and phrases, I swear.
