YouTube Shame: SCVs

I was wishing for somewhere to make a post about doofy fannish things, and then I remembered, Hey, I have a fan journal! So I can embarrass myself here.

One thing you might not know about me, unless you are one of the 3-4 people I talk to on AIM who I am not afraid to completely shame myself in front of, is the fact that I have a huge and powerful weakness for fan videos. Terrible ones, great ones, ones with embarrassing songs you wouldn't want anyone to know you listen to... they're just so fun and ridiculous, how can I resist?

Sad but true: when slacking off online, I am almost always looking up fan videos on YouTube. Looking for the next big thing, hunting for my next video fix, so I can show my buddies and they can either laugh at me or enjoy the glory along with me.

At any given time, I tend to have a particular type of fan video I am most in the mood for, and the current moment is no exception. Lately, even though I have never played FF7, my desired plat du jour is a little something I call "Sad Cloud Videos". I'm sure it is because I painted FF characters as gifts for my friends; while looking them up, I started to empathize with the characters, because I would empathize with an unremarkable gray rock if you gave it a name and a tragic backstory.


Technically, these are Sad Zack/Cloud Videos, but that's not as catchy.

I'm so glad you enjoyed these Sad Cloud Videos--yes, I must not be ashamed! I must embrace the dystopian misery of Final Fantasy Seven. For poor Cloud and his dead boyfriend's sake.

Hahaha, maybe I shouldn't relate so much. Especially at the "I ship them", because that was exactly what I thought when I read about their fate! Oh, RockxTire.
I relate even more to the second edit.

Also, there are some characters of shows I've never watched I feel very sorry for and like way too much, just because I watched sad AMVs featuring them.
Sad AMVs move me deep inside.

This was a wonderful post, where I was apparently able to relate to everything and thus felt greatly amused. :D

Ha ha ha, I am so glad you could relate! Even if you're relating to something ridiculous in this case, which you might wish you didn't, but at least it amused you.

I can also relate where relating to characters solely through AMVs is concerned. Much of my emotional attachment to FF7 characters now comes through fan videos, because I was working on those watercolor gifts for people, and I thought, Oh, watching these videos will help me get into a good frame of mind--what a mistake! :D Now I have all kinds of thoughts and opinions. Damn it. ;)

Anyway, I am so happy I am not alone in this.

Sad AMVs are my weakness. Well, and funny or romantic ones.

Well, before watching the AMVs you posted, I didn't care at all about Cloud or FF7... now I do.

Haha, yes, I also relate to (well-made) AMVs in general as a weakness. ;)

Oh, and I completely adore your icon! Cheerful Trucy showing Vera how to live and have some fun is so cute - when I saw the ending of the game, I hoped Trucy would continue to cheer her up with her magical tricks. <3

Ha ha, well, I am glad I could spread the over empathizing. ;) Yes, I didn't know or care at ALL about anyone in FF7 before my video watching spree. Now I even have favorite characters. (Rufus and the Turks, in case you were wondering, largely because Rufus is the Seto Kaiba of Final Fantasy, and he also has a gang of lovable thugs.)

And thank you! sam_cc made that icon, and I had to take it when I saw it. I love those two so much. I had the exact same reaction to the ending of the game. <3 Actually, I'll be posting a story about Vera and Trucy here fairly soon!

It's hard for me to resist the "Seto Kaiba" of anything--like how Miles Edgeworth is the Seto Kaiba of AA. ;)

The Turks do seem really fun, even though I am basing all my emotions on fan videos! :D And I do like Zack and Cloud a lot, too (obviously).
